2026 THEME: From Division to Dialogue

San Francisco has always held a special place in the world. As both the birthplace of the United Nations and a diverse, multicultural city, thoughtful dialogue, is a core value that San Francisco holds dear. Building on our proud history, this year’s theme for SFMUN is “From Division to Dialogue.”

Throughout past iterations of the SFMUN conference, thousands of passionate delegates have worked tirelessly to craft resolutions and engage in meaningful debate—turning disagreements into opportunities for understanding.

At a time when the United States and the world seem increasingly divided on topics ranging from climate change to global security, we want to remind delegates that diplomacy is not about deepening divides, but about bridging them. SFMUN seeks to provide a space where young leaders can transform conflict into conversation, find common ground, and build a shared vision for the future.

As we open session on the eleventh iteration of the San Francisco Model United Nations Conference, we look forward to the profound dialogue, respectful debate, and innovative solutions that will emerge from committee.
